Brian, Rick, Rich & I had dinner this evening at Guastavino's, a swank, chi-chi, upscale, happening restaurant -- live DJ and everything -- built underneath the 59th Street Bridge (Miss and Mr. Mary's old 'hood). It's the kind of place where they refold your napkin every time you get up to go to the bathroom. The biggest surprise to me was perhaps how comfortable the atmosphere was. (Did I just use the word "was" twice in the same sentence?) Very entertaining for us was the ... uhm, couple at the next table: a very pretty young black woman with purchased hair and boobs was having dinner with a mousy, late-middle-aged white man. We thought she'd ditched him when she disappeared into the ladies room for 40 minutes but, lo and behold, as we were leaving, she reappered, a little bit woozy in her walk.
Better her than me.
