I wrote:

From today's NY Times: "On Friday, both President Bushes [emphasis mine] will speak at the funeral service for Mr. Reagan at Washington National Cathedral."

And so I asked my literate a big sister:

Shouldn't it be "both Presidents Bush"?

To which she replied:

"Possibly a reference to the fact that these men have the intellectual affect of ornamental vegetation..."
